Near Sarteano is the small town of Fonte Vetriana. From here, an enchanting walk takes you through the woods of Monte Cetona, which separates the Val d’Orcia from the Val di Chiana: less known than the nearby Monte Amiata, but no less suggestive for trekking lovers.
Walking along the paths of Monte Cetona means retrace the history. In very different eras, these hills have hosted the first primitive populations, they have been the crossing point for the Etruscans and for pilgrims traveling to Rome, as well as a refuge for the partisans during the war. At the top, you will do a double take: a breath-taking landscape opens onto the lands of Umbria and Lazio.
